About the Artist

Brilliant colors and exciting designs impress the viewer who gazes on one of Anita's landscapes. Her trees shimmer on the
canvas in her expressive, colorful woodland scenes and the ocean becomes vibrant when light dances on the crest of the waves.
Landscapes have shape or form depending on how the light reflects in certain areas and the location of shade or dark areas.
When using oils, Anita first applies a coat of gesso to prepare the canvas and then employs the palette knife, in addition
to a brush, to apply the paint thereby obtaining the texture she desires. Lately, she has been turning to acrylic paint which
has many of the qualities of oil and dries quickly. Large brushes are used for applying paint to the background and sponges
are employed to get the effect of tree foliage. Anita likes to brush on layers of color to get the result she wants. Anita
feels that art is about freedom, frustration, satisfaction and the expression of personal feelings.
Anita has a B.S. degree in Fashion Design and a minor in Art and English. She is mainly a self taught painter. Artists
she admires include Linde of Carmel, Jean Claude Gaugy of Santa Fe, and Thomas Leung of Marin County. Anita is currently
exhibiting artwork at The Louvre Gallery in Grass Valley and The Fire & Rain Gallery in El Dorado Hills. Her future plans
include developing a looser, more abstract painting style. Anita's advice to artists is to persevere, keep experimenting,
take classes and learn new techniques. Art is an important part of human existence and must be appreciated and enjoyed by
others.
